La Familia, Incorporated helps people in need live successfully within families and communities. La Familia provides multi-generational family and community living skills, coordinates care and helps clients deal effectively with their challenges. We strive to service and deliver all our services with integrity, professionalism and respect for individual and cultural diversity.

La Familia began serving the people of New Mexico as a non-profit organization in 1987. The expansion of our organization reflects the massive requests and responses from you. You are our customer. Our staff is experienced and knowledgeable in providing only the best in quality support services.

La Familia provides professional services and programs to enhance the quality of living for individuals and families in our community. We are proud to support services for families.

La Familia provides a comprehensive therapeutic group home program for adolescent Deaf and hard of hearing, ages 15 through 20. Adolescent Deaf and hard of hearing experience the same stresses, emotions and social problems as their hearing peers. However, these issues are exacerbated by limited linguistic and cultural access to professionals knowledgeable in these areas.

La Familia’s therapeutic group home is a community-based program staffed by experienced and knowledgeable individuals who are fluent in American Sign Language and understand the culture of the Deaf. Our adolescent Deaf and hard of hearing students live in a “home-like” environment free of linguistic barriers which provides a balance of therapeutic learning and integration into the community. Each student is expected to attend school in the Albuquerque Public School system as well as participate in local and Deaf community affairs.

La Familia provides a comprehensive range of services in their community-based therapeutic group home. These include individual, family and group therapies, ADL skill building, psychiatric consultation, medication management, and case management. The goal of La Familia is to work on presenting issues, achieve solutions and improve the student’s overall well being. La Familia’s staff works as a team to ensure that students receive the treatment they need.

La Familia is committed to developing an aftercare program that is based on the student’s need. The transition from the therapeutic group home to the student’s home community is crucial to the success of the student. La Familia will work collaboratively with schools, counseling agencies, and programs to focus on the success of the student.
